As I sit here night after night looking up deals and savings, alone and typing into a box full of people, I sometimes wonder why.  First of all, I have to tell you that I love what I do.  I am loving saving people money, finding unbeatable bargains, teaching money-saving tips and meeting all of my wonderful readers via email and blog comments and other forms of social media.

It gives me a sense of accomplishment and well-being to help others live in abundance in this super-tough economy.  How selfish of me. 

I want to tell you about the best of my week.  I love Tuesdays.  Did that surprise you?  On Tuesdays, I actually walk away from my black box (so all you get are posts that I already have scheduled to entertain you) and I am busy from morning until after dark.  It’s my ‘Real World’ day.  I don’t mean to say that you are not real, but I actually go out and see real, live people.

I stop first at the newspaper office and pick up hundreds of newspapers so that I have coupons for myself and others that need them.  I talk like a lunatic to the sweet, wonderful ladies that work there because, besides my family, they are the first real people I have seen in a week.  It is completely different than ‘talking’ (I should say typing) to my thousands or readers and fans on the computer.  I often wonder if they really think I’m crazy because I talk a mile a minute the whole time I am there.  I think they are great simply because they listen so patiently and seem genuinely happy for whatever is happening in my life.

Secondly, I take a quick trip to the store to pick up my ‘gotta have’ list and some quick coupon or money-making items to bring to the coupon class I teach (absolutely FREE) at my local library on Tuesday nights.  While I am shopping, I talk to whoever I see or am standing next to, look into shopping carts and hand out coupons for items others are buying and give out several business cards while I am at it.  Handing out the coupons is my favorite part because it is just like giving out cash and I definitely cannot do that!  The third thing I do is stop downtown for a quick coupon drop-off and, at the same time, give the newspapers (without the coupons, of course) to the local businesses that need them to wrap up breakables for their customers.  Again, I talk a mile a minute, nonstop the whole of the time! 

Sometimes I make it home in time to type in the coupons before coupon class and sometimes I don’t.  I am always home in time for the kids to get off the school bus, though.  How selfish of me.  I am also here for the ladies that stop by to pick up the coupons they need to help support their families.  While they are here, I am talking nonstop about the deals they need to use their coupons for and listening to the needs they have. 

I then get ready to go and teach a roomful of new and experienced people the best way to spend nearly nothing.  I do this for at least an hour and a half and then I talk and listen for another 30 minutes.  There have been times the library has to kick us out because it’s closing time. 

Tuesdays are my favorite day because I get to see live people, share, give away, donate my time and teach anyone that is interested about my world and what takes up so much of my time; how to live abundantly on nearly nothing. I do all of this because it makes me feel good and I love helping others. It’s important to me.
