Save Yourself and/or Your Family With a Can of Wasp Spray

We usually have a can of Wasp Spray on the deck.  There are a lot of bees and wasps in our area.

My dad sends me emails that are full of all kinds of interesting information.  Here is some information on how to possibly save yourself and your family in case of a break in or attack while at home.

If you have used wasp spray, you know it has about a 20-foot spray range that is fairly accurate.  After all, who wants to get close to a wasp.  Same with someone that would break into your home.  While pepper spray is the common ‘go-to’ item for a lot of women for protection, keeping a can of wasp spray in a convenient (out of reach of young children) could just give you the time you need to escape and assailant.  The most important thing is to get to safety, right?  Somewhere you are able to call the police and get help.

Wasp Spray is an affordable safety measure to take.  When sprayed in the eyes of an attacker, it will temporarily blind them until they receive medical care for an antidote.  That means you have time to collect your family and get out while you wait for the police to take care of the rest.  The best part: you can do it from across the room and not have to be near an attacker where you could be overpowered.

Share this article with your friends and show them that a home protection system does not have to be expensive.

May you never need to use this tip my dad passed on to me.

My Sister’s Mustache ~ I’m Still Laughing

Years ago I tried a product that was supposed to just ‘rub the hair off your legs’.  Anything was worth a try to not have to shave and most women understand that.  Well, after a few rubs, I noticed my leg was a little tender so I looked at this little black pad that I was using to rub the hair off.

To my surprise, this little black piece of paper was really smooth (very fine) sandpaper!  Oh my goodness!  At this point, I realized that I either had really hard to remove hair or really sensitive skin.  I choose the latter! LOL

My sister came for a visit this summer and as most discussions women have, the subject of hair removal came up.  She started telling me about this pad she used on her ‘mustache’ area.  I was laughing before she was even finished because even after several years, I remember the feeling on my leg (I’m still laughing but don’t want to tell her that).  She goes on to say how it actually burned her upper lip area to raw skin and she hated to leave the house.  LOL *cough, sorry.

When she arrived at the school to pick up her kids, they too were surprised at mom’s mustache, especially how long it remained.  LOL *cough, sorry.  She also told me that it had to scab over and heal and that it took almost a month for her ‘mistake’ with the hair removal pad to heal.  LOL *cough, sorry.

Of course, I informed her that it was only very fine sandpaper and when I tried it on my legs, it was not worth the discomfort it caused.  I can only imagine the way the burn on her upper lip felt after she sandpapered the heck out of it.  LOL * cough, sorry.

Recently, on the View, Whoopie Goldberg says she loves the Smooth Away Hair Removal System – As Seen on TV .  I, for one, am not giving them another shot with my ultra sensitive skin, but if you want to try them (I would suggest reading the instructions very carefully and moisturizing well afterwards) they are available on Amazon for just $3.99 with free shipping.  Amazon prices change often so remember this is the price I found at the time of the original posting.

If you do try them, please let us know how your experience was.  I promise not to laugh.  Really. :)

Is it OK to Play in the Sprinkler When You Are Over 40?

Dad, can I please play in the sprinkler?  This was my big question as I spent a week in the 2012 Chicago heat wave.  I was serious.  If your skin touched itself, it did not even take 20 seconds to be drenched in sweat.  Oh, it was miserable, all right.

This was the same day that I read about three heat related deaths, in the Chicago area newspaper and jokingly asked my father if he was glad I was there.  His reply, “Why, you aren’t that old”?  Gee, I guess we know from where my sense of humor evolved!

Not five minutes after the story was read and the jokes bantered, the phone rings and it was a family friend, Carmen, my father’s age, calling to see how he was and to give him tips on how to help his air conditioning ‘keep up’ with the weather.  By this time, we were past keeping up and trying not to move in the stifling house.

18 Weeks of UI ~ Natural Humor Included!

When you are out in public, it is very hard to cross your legs really hard, bend over and hope you do not wet yourself when you are ready to sneeze or cough. I did that forever when I worked big box retail. With people around all the time, I sure that looked like quite a sight to some.

I had an issue called Stress Urinary Incontinence (UI). Anything that put stress on bladder could cause leakage. The above two reasons are my most memorable, and occurred most often.

Finding a doctor was another whole story for UI. As women, it is hard enough to visit the gynecologist so we do have the hope of making it through life without the need for a urologist or a proctologist. I was wondering how many mothers and friends share their ‘total’ stories of each step along the way so I decided to share my experience, sometimes embarrassing and sometimes humorous, with you.
