Walgreen Couponing 101

Couponing at Walgreens

Walgreens offers several deals every week that make them worth the trip to visit because you are most likely going to pass one on your weekly trips around town.

Couponing is stricter at Walgreens than at a lot of other stores.

You must have as many items or fewer than you have coupons;

Your purchase must equal more than $0.00 with your coupons so you may need ‘filler’ items.  Filler items are items that are extremely low in price to make your total number of items okay to coupon with or that make your total more than zero so the register will accept your transaction.

You can ‘stack’ at Walgreens with MC and SC.  The SC are NOT supposed to count as a coupon, so I only have them scan the ad or their monthly savings booklet AFTER they have scanned all of my MC FIRST.  Sometimes their registers will require a filler item if you use MC with SC in the middle of the checkout process.

Walgreens has an in-store coupon booklet every month.  Sometimes, they will have several.  A good place to find your monthly booklet is at the front of the store with the sales ads.  You do not need to cut out the coupon, they just need to scan it so you can use it more than once.  Always ask at the beauty checkout if they have special monthly booklets and the beauty counter will also have any others.

The pharmacy in Walgreens carries a FREE magazine (matched to the season) that usually has some HIGH dollar coupons it.  You need to ask the pharmacy for this book.
